Birmingham St. George’s Day Association:
Origins:    The Association was formed in 2002 as a result of a desire, led by Carl Chinn, to celebrate all that is positive about being English by holding an event or events at least annually to mark St George's day. This is similar to the St Patrick's day and many other similar celebrations held by various groups in our varied society. Because of his existing associations, Carl asked the
Birmingham Icknield Male Voice Choir, & The West Midlands Police Male Voice Choir (now disbanded) to help with the initial organising. A meeting was held by members of the community in November 2002, and a committee was formed, with Carl as Chairman. After much debate, it was decided that a concert in Symphony Hall on St George's day itself would be a fitting first year celebration, indeed this was taken as the title of the concert, "An English Celebration"
